The United Travelbank Card from Chase is offering a $150 bonus in the form of TravelBank cash. A $150 offer is competitive with other no annual fee cash back cards.
The United TravelBank card lets you redeem your rewards without having to collect a ton. But this card also has very limited redemption options and not a whole lot of airline perks.
This card does not earn United MileagePlus miles. It earns TravelBank cash, which is redeemed toward the purchase of flights operated by United. Chase co-branded cards that earn United MileagePlus miles include the following:
High spenders are better off with one of the other United-branded cards above or a general travel rewards card.
*The United TravelBank credit card is issued by Chase Bank. Chase also offers great sign-up bonuses for their Checking/Savings accounts.
United TravelBank Card $150 Bonus TravelBank Cash
Perhaps the best perk of the United Travelbank card is its $150 welcome offer. The offer comes in the form of TravelBank cash which can only be used towards United flights (more on that later).
To qualify, you’ll have to charge at least $1,000 to your card within the first 3 months of opening your account.
Here are some ideas on meeting the spending requirement.
What Is TravelBank Cash?
TravelBank cash is easy to use. Your only redemption option is towards the cost of a United flight. $1 in TravelBank cash = $1. And you can redeem with as little as $1. It’s that simple.
If you don’t have enough to cover the entire cost of a flight, you can pay the difference with your TravelBank card.
United TravelBank Card Top Features
Cardholders get 25% back as statement credit on food, beverages and WiFi purchased onboard United-operated flights.
Make purchases abroad without worrying about foreign transaction fees. This perk is less common for a no-annual-fee card.
Bottom Line
The United TravelBank card is the only co-branded United credit card that doesn’t charge an annual fee. It gives a decent fixed rate on rewards, but you don’t get a lot of airline-specific perks. Your redemption options are also extremely limited.
That said, the TravelBank card will appeal to a small subset of people. Particularly if:
- You don’t fly much.
- When you do, you fly United.
- You want simple rewards.
That doesn’t sound like you? Then you’ll want to consider another United-branded credit card or a non-branded travel rewards card. Both can offer more value and flexibility.
