Formerly Hyatt Gold Passport, World of Hyatt features four tiers of membership and flexible points with high earning potential. It is, however, a smaller hotel chain. But its limited size means World of Hyatt can offer you more with elite status.

Earning World Of Hyatt Points
All World of Hyatt members earn the same number of base points for their stay, regardless of which loyalty tier you belong to.
Earn 5 base points for every $1 spent on
qualifying stays, dining and spa experiences.
If you’re an elite member, you’ll earn bonus points on top of your base points. The bonus rate depends on your status. On a qualifying stay of $100, you can expect to receive:
STATUS | POINTS BONUS | TOTAL POINTS |
Member | 0% | 500 |
Discoverist | 10% | 550 |
Explorist | 20% | 600 |
Globalist | 30% | 650 |
Keep in mind, only base points count towards elite status. Bonus points, unfortunately, do not.
Also important to note: World of Hyatt is one of the few hotel loyalty programs where you’ll earn points for your stay, no matter how you made your reservation. That means you’ll be rewarded even if you book through a third-party site like Expedia or Priceline.
Earn 10x Hyatt points by booking FIND experiences, offered through luxury partner IfOnly. These activities help you discover unique aspects of your destination that you probably wouldn’t find using a simple Google search. Examples include:
- A quarterback camp with a former Super Bowl champion in San Francisco.
- A private yoga and feeding session with baby goats in Las Vegas.
- A private bonsai class with artist Julian Velasco in New York.
- A pasta-making class and dinner experience with Chef Aram Reed in Chicago.
- A group rowing experience in Boston Harbor.
- A soap-making and natural beauty workshop in Miami.
Some FIND experiences cost less than $100 per person, while others are upwards of $500 each.

INK BUSINESS PREFERREDยฎ CREDIT CARD
The Ink Business Preferredยฎ Credit Card from Chase has a new cardmember offer for 100,000 bonus points after you spend $15,000 on purchases in the first 3 months after opening.

Redeeming World Of Hyatt Points
Keep in mind, Hyatt points expire with 24 months of inactivity. If you earn or redeem points, you’ll reset the clock for another 24 months.

The best use for your Hyatt points is toward hotel stays, with an average value of $0.017 per point. An award stay can get as low as 5,000 points per night and as high as 60,000 points per night.
The World of Hyatt award chart is refreshingly straightforward. There’s only one award price per room type per hotel category. Other programs, like Hilton Honors, use dynamic award pricing which makes it much more difficult and time-consuming for you to maximize your points.
If you’re short on points, you can still redeem for an award stay using a combination of points and cash. The total cost depends on the hotel category and the rate for standard rooms.
Is Points + Cash good value for your stay? That depends. Compare the standard room rate with the value of points you would use. If the points and cash required is less than the cost of the standard rate, then go for it. You’ll be getting a good deal.
Use your Hyatt points to upgrade your hotel experience. The amount of points you’ll need depends on the type of room you want to upgrade to:
You can only upgrade using points on stays paid with cash. Unfortunately, award stays cannot be upgraded.
If you have a long stay, upgrading your room using points may cost the same as a standard room award. This is not a good way to use your points unless it’s for a special occasion, or if you have no other use for your points.
If you want to treat yourself to a nice dinner or a relaxing spa treatment at your hotel, you can use your Hyatt points towards your bill:
But be forewarned, hotel credits aren’t the best way to redeem your World of Hyatt rewards. You’ll get a range of $0.005 to $0.0083 for each point.
You can use your Hyatt points at the all-inclusive resorts below:
It’s also possible to use your points, or a combination of points and cash, at Miraval resorts:
Award pricing for Miraval resorts may seem pretty high, but award stays will also come with all the amenities you can imagine.
It’s also possible to use your Hyatt points for stays at participating M life Rewards destinations in Las Vegas:
M life Rewards Destination | Points Required |
Excalibur | 12,000 per night |
New York – New York | 15,000 per night |
Park MGM Las Vegas | 15,000 per night |
MGM Grand | 15,000 per night |
The Mirage | 20,000 per night |
Mandalay Bay | 20,000 per night |
The Signature at MGM Grand | 20,000 per night |
Vdara | 20,000 per night |
Delano Las Vegas | 25,000 per night |
Bellagio | 25,000 per night |
Because prices are often slashed at Las Vegas properties, we don’t recommend using your Hyatt points towards M life Rewards destinations.
It’s easy to figure out how many Hyatt points you’ll need for an SLH award stay by using the table below:
Category | Hyatt Points |
1 | 5,000 per night |
2 | 8,000 per night |
3 | 12,000 per night |
4 | 15,000 per night |
5 | 20,000 per night |
6 | 25,000 per night |
7 | 30,000 per night |
8 | 40,000 per night |
World of Hyatt has the following airline partners:
FIND experiences. Not only can you earn Hyatt points for FIND experiences, you can also redeem your points toward these unique and exclusive activities focused on enhancing your mind, body and spirit.
Avis car rental certificates. Trade inHyatt points for a rental certificate that’s good for an intermediate-size car for one day.
World Of Hyatt Tips & Tricks
World of Hyatt and American Airlines AAdvantage have joined forces to motivate members to engage in both loyalty programs, much like the RewardsPlus partnership between Marriott Bonvoy and United MileagePlus.
Link your World of Hyatt account with your AAdvantage account to reap the following benefits:
Fast tracking to a higher elite status is not automatic. American Airlines selects certain World of Hyatt Explorist members for the opportunity to fast track. Simply being an Explorist does not guarantee a status match. That said, we still recommend linking your two accounts.
World of Hyatt often offers limited-time promotions, allowing you to earn bonus points on your stays. Past offers included:
- Earn 500 bonus points for booking your stay through the new Hyatt mobile app. Promotion ends September 30, 2019.
- Earn double credit towards elite status for Hyatt Zilara and Hyatt Ziva stays. You must register by October 31, 2019. Promotion ends November 23, 2019.
Make sure to subscribe to the World of Hyatt newsletter, so you don’t miss out on any good deals.
As a World of Hyatt member, you can earn points on up to three rooms at the same time. However, you can only earn tier qualifying nights on one room each night.
Most hotel loyalty programs will let you earn points on only one room per night.
If you book directly with Hyatt but you find a better rate elsewhere for your stay, Hyatt will match it. Plus, you’ll get a choice of an additional 20% of your rate or 5,000 bonus Hyatt points.
Hyatt Prive and Virtuoso are invitation-only programs for luxury travel agents. When you book your stay with a Hyatt Prive agent or via the Virtuoso website, you’ll get a much better deal than booking directly on the official Hyatt site.
Rates are similar and you’ll earn the same number of Hyatt points, but you’ll also get additional perks at participating Andaz, Grand Hyatt, Hyatt Regency, Park Hyatt and The Unbound Collection hotels.
Benefits include:
- $50 – $100 property credit per room per stay
- 1 category room upgrade (confirmed within 24 hours after booking)
- Daily full breakfast for 2
- Early check-in (from 9am, subject to availability)
- Late checkout (to 4pm, subject to availability)
- Welcome letter & gift
Similar perks are available when you book with your American Express credit card through Amex Fine Hotels & Resorts.
World of Hyatt lets you earn 500 airline miles – instead of Hyatt points – per hotel stay. But this is rarely a good deal because you’ll only get 500 miles, no matter how much you spend or how long you stay.
If you want to activate this feature, you can do so from your profile settings. Make sure to present both your World of Hyatt and airline loyalty member numbers when you check-in.
You can transfer your Hyatt points to another member without any fees. This is a good option if you:
- Want to consolidate points into your spouse’s elite status account
- Want a Globalist member to book you a Guest of Honor reservation
As a Guest of Honor, you’ll be entitled to receive Globalist hotel perks. Like 4pm late check out, complimentary suite upgrades and club lounge access.
You can also share eligible awards – free nights, Points + Cash, select room upgrades and more – with any World of Hyatt member.
Bottom Line
World of Hyatt is an uncomplicated hotel loyalty program where points are easy to earn and easy to burn. Members can take advantage of plenty of perks like free night awards, member discounts and valuable promos.
However, Hyatt is a relatively small hotel chain with approximately 850 properties worldwide. That’s not much compared to Hilton’s 5,000+ properties and Marriott’s 7,000+. Before joining World of Hyatt, make sure there are Hyatt hotels in destinations where you frequent.
