When you join Golden Circle, you automatically become a Gold member. Above that are two status tiers: Jade and Diamond. To move up a tier, you must clock in a certain amount of nights or a certain number of stays within one calendar year:

Earning GC Award Points
Get Golden Circle (GC) Award Points when you stay with Shangri-La, or when you stop in to enjoy a meal, a drink or a treatment at the spa. But keep in mind, there are no Shangri-La properties in the United States. As such, Americans will have a hard time racking up on GC Award Points, unless you frequently travel to destinations with Shangri-La properties.

Redeeming GC Award Points
Most U.S. residents transfer their GC Award Points to airline miles. Almost all Golden Circle airline transfer partners convert at a 1:1 ratio. For example, you can transfer 3,000 GC Award Points to 3,000 American Airlines, Cathay Pacific or Etihad miles, or 3,000 Virgin Australia points.
Otherwise, you can redeem your GC Award Points for room awards, upgrades, hotel dining and spa vouchers, or on a selection of travel experiences by Klook, Bowers & Wilkins premium sound products and other lifestyle electronics. If you’re feeling altruistic, you can donate your points to charities or the corporate social responsibility project.
GC Award Points Expiration
GC Award Points expire on December 31st, three calendar years after the year they were earned. For example, any points earned in 2021 will expire on December 31, 2024. Make sure to use your points before they expire, because there are no ways to reinstate them once they’re gone.

Amex Membership Rewards, Chase Ultimate Rewards, Marriott Bonvoy (& More) Transfers
You can’t do a direct transfer of points between Golden Circle and American Express Membership Rewards, Chase Ultimate Rewards, Citi ThankYou Rewards, Capital One Rewards or Marriott Bonvoy, but there is a clever, roundabout way to do it.
The strategy involves Infinite Journeys and the ability to easily convert GC Award Points into KrisFlyer miles and vice versa. You see, KrisFlyer is a transfer partner of all five major rewards programs we mentioned above. For free nights at Shangri-La, transfer your loyalty points to KrisFlyer miles and then convert to GC Award Points. Voila!
