American Express has removed Frontier Airlines from its Airline Fee Credit program. The airline credit is one of the most generous benefits offered by several Amex credit cards. Even with the removal, you still have plenty of options to choose from, including United, American, Delta, and others.
The Details
Frontier Airlines is no longer an option for Amex cardholders to use their airline fee credit on. Cardholders that had selected Frontier as their chosen airline for this calendar year will still be eligible for purchases through 2022. For 2023, Frontier will no longer be on the list of airlines to choose from.
The airline credit reimburses you for airline incidental fees, such as checked bags, change fees, seat assignments, onboard purchases, and more. For every calendar year, you must select an airline that you want to use the credit on and generally cannot change the airline mid-year.
The credit cards that offer this nice perk currently include the following:
- American Express Platinum (up to $200)
- American Express Hilton Aspire (up to $250)
- American Express Business Platinum (up to $200)
The airlines that remain in the program are the following:
- American Airlines
- United Airlines
- Delta Air Lines
- Alaska Airlines
- Southwest Airlines
- Hawaiian Airlines
- JetBlue Airways
- Spirit Airlines
Bottom Line
Having fewer choices generally is considered a bad thing but I’m willing to bet not many people will miss Frontier being absent from this program. Many great choices remain.
